Thank you! I am deeply grateful for your support!
438 amazing friends, new and old, and many family members from across the country joined me on this journey. To our incredibly generous donors, volunteers on so many projects, amazing web assistants, event coordinators, canvassers, and so many others - you are our campaign heroes. Working alongside many of you to build the campaign has been my distinct privilege.
As our next President, Hillary Clinton said in 2008, "Well this isn't the party I planned, but I sure like the company." It has been my sincere honor to have your company for these last few months.
Unfortunately I was not successful in the primary. And after many years consulting campaigns, I know that begins and ends with the candidate. I am pleased to share that I have met with both candidates advancing to the general election, and both have expressed a fundamental commitment to key issues we highlighted during the primary.
As many of you know, our campaign called for increased attention and strengthening of the 43rd District's long history as a standard-bearer for civil rights - for our LGBTQ community and many others who have struggled in so many ways. As an early supporter and the first candidate in the 43rd to endorse I-873 (calling for increased police accountability), I worked to bring attention to this issue and challenged my opponents to join the effort. And I'm pleased to share that both candidates advancing have since expressed support.
Bringing voice to this issue in the 43rd and building our campaign was only possible with your help.
My deepest thanks to so many elected officials and community leaders who endorsed my campaign, particularly Senator Cyrus Habib, who has also advanced to the general election in the race for lt. governor, and Rep. Jim Moeller, who is running for congress in the 3rd CD. Please join me in supporting these great Democrats as volunteers or as financial activists.
Thank you to my organizational endorsers: Graduate Washington, Washington Stonewall Democrats, to the Seattle Metropolitan Elections Commission (Sea-Mec), who awarded me their highest "5A" rating and top interview score across the entire field; and to full media coverage and consideration from the Capitol Hill Times, the Stranger, and the Seattle Times for including me along with two others mentioned by name as "well-qualified" out of the field of eight candidates.
And finally, I am so incredibly lucky to have a supportive and giving husband who has been an important part of the campaign. His constant encouragement and support were most certainly a source of strength. Through this entire experience he has been right there with me all the way. Thank you so much, Andrew - you are the love of my life!
As we wind down the campaign, we are working to take care of some additional final expenses totaling just above $1,000. Contributions raised will help us meet expenses related to hiring additional field staff, placing digital ads with the Stranger, and feeding volunteers. We are only allowed to raise additional fund for 30 days after the election. Your donation and help in any amount will be deeply appreciated!
To contribute just click this link. As a thank you, we will send some fun campaign schwag and additional prizes for two lucky, randomly drawn supporters. And stay tuned for details for a special thank you event in the next month or two!
With deepest gratitude,
